Carol Monk
CREMS first Volunteer Spotlight is proud to recognize Glennallen resident Carol Monk. Carol is an Alaska Certified Mobile Intensive Care Paramedic and Nationally Registered EMT-Paramedic. Carol completed the 18-month UAA Kenai Peninsula College Paramedic program in November of 2023 while working full-time for CRNA. Carol was able to complete the paramedic program thanks to her hard work and determination as well as the strong support of both CREMS and CRNA who successfully collaborated to secure a SAMHSA Rural EMS Training Grant which funded the majority of Carol's tuition and travel expenses. This investment in Carol and her dedication to succeed is now paying incredible dividends for the entire Copper River region.
Carol has been married to her husband Shawn for eight amazing and wonderful years. The couple has lived in Glennallen for five years with their two dogs, Parker and Ghost who are loved like children. Carol is also an Advisory Board Member and Skills Instructor/Lab Aid for the UAA-Kenai Peninsula College’s Paramedic Program. Currently, Carol is pursuing her Critical Care Paramedic Certification.
CREMS is happy to have Carol onboard. Her willingness to sign up for additional shifts outside of work and mentor her crew members has been phenomenal. Thanks Carol, for your dedication to our communities and your fellow CREMS volunteer First Responders!
