Volunteer Spotlight - Sarah Gallt Linnell
Sarah Gallt Linnell is a life-long Alaskan who now resides in Kenny Lake and is an active CREMS volunteer and EMT.
Sarah grew up living a rural lifestyle in a dry cabin, mostly in Talkeetna. As a young adult, Sarah primarily worked in Anchorage, where she raised her children and attended college. Four and a half years ago, she decided it was time for a change, and she moved to Kenny Lake where her grandfather, Dick Linnell, had established the Linnell homestead in the 1960’s.
Sarah now works remotely for a consulting firm and also tends to her garden, raises turkeys and chickens, and is connecting her children to the rural Alaska lifestyle while enjoying the peace and quiet of being closer to nature. You might also have seen her out in the wintertime snowplowing for people in her big red truck.
When Sarah moved to Kenny Lake, after years of being a Rotary member, she was looking for an organization where she could volunteer. She has always had a love for biology and A&P, and she rediscovered that passion by taking EMS classes. CREMS was the perfect fit for her volunteer energy and over the past year, she has completed her BLS, ETT, and then EMT certifications and looks forward to increasing her level of certification in the future.
In less than one year, Sarah has already donated nearly 1,000 hours of on-call time and more than 65 hours responding to 911 EMS dispatches in the Copper River service area.
Sarah says, “It’s a way to give back to my community. To be there for someone when they are having possibly one of their hardest days, and to be a part of helping them, that’s what I love; to be of service to others.”
CREMS is very proud and fortunate to have Sarah as part of our volunteer EMS crew. Her dedication to helping others, professionalism, and natural EMS skills make her a wonderful addition to the Kenny Lake Squad. Thank you Sarah for all you do for our communities!
