Volunteer Spotlight
2024 CREMS EMT-1 Certification Class
CONGRATULATIONS and THANK YOU to the 7 CREMS volunteers who dedicated 7 weeks of their lives to completing an Initial EMT-1 Certification Course!
George, Michaela, Jolene, Joe, Sean, Jacob, and Sarah successfully completed the recent EMT-1 Initial Certification class and passed their State written exams (with flying colors) on Saturday, November 23rd. This is a huge achievement for them personally and also for CREMS as an organization. This will give us two more EMT's in Glennallen and five more EMT's in Kenny Lake--which will hopefully allow Kenny Lake to transport patients for pretty much all the calls in the Kenny Lake service area without having to rely on the ambulance coming from Glennallen!
Congratulations and THANKS also goes to Mike Moody for his amazing job as the lead instructor. This could not have happened without Mike!
These students each donated well over 150 hours of their lives to complete this course. Classes were all in-person and held every weekday evening from 6-9pm and a couple of full Saturdays with additional reading assignments, quizzes and tests that they somehow managed to find the time to complete outside of scheduled class-times. George and Michaela also drove more than 2,500 miles between Glennallen and Kenny Lake to attend the in-person only classes which were mostly held at the Kenny Lake Community Hall.
We look forward to seeing these new EMT’s continue to grow and gain experience serving the Copper River region as volunteer EMS responders!
