Volunteer Spotlight

Treann Ewan

CREMS is honored and blessed to have Treann as one of our volunteer EMT’s.  She has quickly gained confidence and experience responding to 911 EMS dispatches throughout the region.  She is a vital member of our core group of active volunteers.  Treann has already volunteered for numerous on-call shifts and has responded both with the ambulance as part of the transport crew and in her personal vehicle as a first responder.  She has a great mind for medical care and the perfect temperament for EMS.  She clearly enjoys learning from new experiences and we are looking forward to her continued advancement as an EMS practitioner.

Treann is an Ahtna Athabascan who was born in Anchorage and raised in the Copper River Valley mostly in Kluti-Kaah Village and Mentasta Village.

Treann first took an EMT 1 certification course taught by Lezelda Fiebig at CRNA during the first part of 2019.  At the time, Treann was working for Elder Services at CRNA (in a non-medical department), but she loved the EMT class and everything that she learned.  She especially liked the high intensity of the course, the skills, EMS, and knowing that she was helping people.

Treann didn’t do anything else medically oriented until April 2023 when she transferred to the Medical Services Department at CRNA to become an EMS technician.  She quickly realized that she was in the right place.

Treann says she wanted to start volunteering with CREMS because she thought having someone on the crew who knows the area and many of the people would be beneficial. And the region needed more EMS volunteers in order for CREMS to provide ambulance service, so she felt like it was her duty to help.  Especially since she is doing it in her home community.
